I have been playing around with shades of green and blue a lot.. therefore, this bookmark is blue-themed. Should you wish to have it in other colours and in another ribbon length (shorter or longer), it can be done! Just email me. :)

Aftermath

I had fever right after the bazaar.. sill recovering. =p Art for Grabs was exhilarating! I was rushing like mad to prepare for it and finally it's over now. Phew! I've got lots of pictures to share. Some of the shots are taken by Amanda. Thanks babe for helping me print the name cards and for bringing them to me. :)

Before that, lots and tonnes of thanks to my AUNT PI LI and UNCLE PETER for their love and help. They tirelessly pushed the heavy trolley loaded with my beads and carried the table from the car park to the Annexe for me. They sat patiently by me for the two whole days, helping me to sell and guard the money. They also bought me breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am deeply grateful for their help. :) Thanks, kuku and kucheong. I love you both a lot. :)

My stall at the corner, near the stairs. Also, that's my aunt and half of my uncle.

I should be more organized. Ahem.

My stall neighbour, The Establishment. They were selling keyboard keys as pendants, brooches and rings. I bought some from them too. =p

This was the main gallery, with a cafe upstairs!

Creative works by Evangelione and Miss Ireen. They used wall space! So creative! It wasn't convenient for them to bring tables as they came from JB, so they used the walls instead. :)

Joan of Joan Beads House and Shi Min of Charming Pieces! It was great meeting you both! :)

I bought these cute cupcakes for teatime from GG of Ngonyes! I toppled the whole thing.. that's why the colourful dotties got stuck at the other cupcakes. :s

Below are artsy shots by Amanda. :)

I like this picture of me. :D

These yummy earrings are made by Ciyou of Colors City, who shared a stall with Cindy of Crafty Bites. The cake slices at the bottom of the image are mine now.. muahaha!

Amanda told me that this stall sold our primary school days goodies, from candies to small games. A bundle of these stuff should be more than enough to evoke the nostalgic senses. :D

Mucho gracias goes to my beloved friends who came to visit me - Jane of Handmade Jewelry Club, Aunty Elaine and family, Cindy and Eddie, and 'Aunty' June! You guys made my day! :D

I basically have a rough idea on what I'll be selling. I'm still thinking whether I would do charm bracelet customization there.. cuz it may take up much time. Yeah, I know it's kinda too late to be still planning how I want to run my stall! I can be quite a procrastinator. X( Trying very hard to change! Gonna be in my New Year's resolution.. again.

I'm also getting quite nervous about this bazaar thing. Come come and support me k? Come up and say hi to me! :) Hope to see you there!

Hiatus

I hereby need to announce that Chatterbeads will be on a hiatus from 6-14 December as the vertically-challenged owner will be off to Cameron Highlands and Ipoh.

So.. yeah. During those times, I will not be able to create new designs, post out your orders, nor reply your e-mails. You can still e-mail me your orders and enquiries, but I can only reply them after the 14th December (or maybe on that day itself). Thousand apologies for any inconveniences caused.

Rainbow Necklace

Here's a yummilicious necklace I created for Cindy C. She loved the rainbow jelly beads and asked whether they can be made into a necklace.

N21 Rainbow Jelly Necklace
Length (from clasp to split ring): 43cm
RM22

This is how the necklace looks like from the back.

I find this a really cheerful and fun necklace. :) Hope you like it, Cindy!

Talking Beads?

Kenny asked me this during the fair in college:

"Chatterbeads.. hmm.. your beads can talk wan ah?"

I gave him that -__-" look. Haha.

I thought of naming this site Chatterbeads because of how I can talk nonstop about beading with another bead enthusiast friend when I first started this idea of online business. I wanted names like beadology or beadophile but they were all taken (some by people who just put up ONE post only). JL insisted that I should name it noobbeads (because he claims I'm a noob at everyhing). -__-" I refused.

I thought about a name that would reflect on me and the first thing I thought about was how excited I can become when I talk about beads and my poor friends would be swimming in jargons like eyepins and headpins.

Hence, the name Chatterbeads is bestowed upon this little site of mine. :) Welcome.

TARC

Chatterbeads appeared in Tunku Abdul Rahman College today for five hours! My gratitude goes to the members of the Christian Fellowship for your support, help and the space given to me. Just wished it wasn't raining and that the canopy didn't leak. =p Enjoyed your company and those crazy announcements made over the PA system. I'm glad I got to catch up with old friends and also make a few more new friends! :)

My utmost gratitude goes to JL who fetched me to college, waited for me at Lowyat and then braced through the horrendous traffic jam in sleepy mode to college again to fetch me home. So.. thankew. :)

My first offline sales at TAR College was not how I expected it to be. Maybe I set unreasonably high expectations. And then the rain poured, the rainwater soaked through the canopy and wetted most of the things there, including the other items that the CFers were selling. But luckily the rain stopped and I was able to continue making customized bracelets and earrings. I was also able to talk to one of the CFers who was interested to start his own handmade jewellery business.

Here are some of the pictures Amanda took.

My small little section on the table

Me and my wares.

Thanks, Amanda, for this opportunity. :)

DOTCOM

You might probably know this by now.. but I'm gonna make an official announcement:

Chatterbeads has a shorter URL now!

All thanks to JL for the sweet surprise! :)

To-Do List

I'm still alive! Wheee!! Just finished 40 bracelets I was commissioned to make. Phew! Thanks, Cindy and Yvonne, for giving me the opportunity. :)

Charlotte, your birdy ear studs are ready! And I'll get to work soon with the chrysanthemum earrings for your friend before tomorrow. :p

I need to get started on new designs.. Cineleisure flea market MAY be my next challenge in mid December. No promises yet, don't wanna disappoint you. ;) Will file you in once the application's approved! Excited excited excited..

I realized I have a LOT of overdued projects.. let's see. There's Guats' wedding necklace which I am very honoured to make, and Aunt Kim Lan's pearls waiting to be strung with crystals into necklace and earrings, and Aunt Katherine's precious stones waiting to be wire-wrapped. Also, Kay Yi's bracelet and earrings waiting to be repaired and I gotta count the price of June's custom-made bracelet. Did I miss out anything else? Oh yeah, gotta shop for amber-coloured stone to match Carol's pendant/earrings. And Krystle's dainty musical earrings and Christin's blue sunstone bracelet by Sunday.

I promise I'll update soon! Holidays coming soon.. CAN'T WAIT!

Asymmetrical

Upside down! :D Which side do you like better? You can request for symmetrical version too, if you're not into asymmetrical.

E80 Shell Bird
Bird-shaped shells, millefiori chips, white opalite Swarovski bicones, textured metal beads.
Length: approximately 5cm
RM16

The close-up of millefiori chips with tiny flower patterns on them!

The kindergarten I work in discourages kids from playing with guns in school, whether toy or imaginary. We always tell kids "No guns in school" who are shooting their peers with an imaginary gun. So on Monday, I wore this pair of earrings to school and my fellow colleague saw the pistol. She straight away chirped, "No guns in school!" I quickly took it out before the kids saw it. Haha! :p

E81 Arrested
Pistol charm and handcuff charm.
Length: 4cm
RM13 (sold out)

You know the drill! E-mail me at chanwaiyee@gmail.com or SMS me at 016-2061984 to order! Remakes ARE possible with NO extra charges, unless stated otherwise. ;)

Beads String

FINALLY I've got my hands on the Swarovski Beads String and Colour Chart! I've always wanted a colour sampler and was thinking of actually collecting them slowly until I have all the colours. Sorta like collecting stamps or collector's items.

I don't have to collect one by one anymore! Yay!

If you're an avid beader, this is very useful when you want to look for colours that will match your desired colour scheme. This 46cm long strand consists of 128 pieces of 4mm Swarovski bicones. A colour chart accompanies it; a guidance to tell you the names of the colours. And they come in a very presentable organza bag. :)

Visit Beading.com.my to get yours today before they run out! You can read more about this item at their blog.

Lac

E79 Black Lac
20mm Black lac bead, daisy spacers, metal beads on kidney ear wire.
Length: approximately 5.5cm
RM20

According to Bead 'n Shop, lac is the hardened resin, secreted by the tiny lac insect belonging to a bug family. The widely known Indian lac insect is Kerria lacca. Lac insects, which can only be seen clearly with a magnifying glass, settle closely on the twigs of certain host trees, suck the plant sap and grow, all the while secreting lac resin from their bodies, in India and the Far East. Lac is safe natural product which is non toxic, hard, tough and brittle but softens with slow heating.

You can read the procedure for making lac beads here. These beads are hand-shaped, that's why they are not perfectly spherical. The accessories (flowers, small beads) are manually pressed into the lac bead during one of the heating process. So cool, right? :D

Swallow

I think of my younger sis when I think of swallows. Because her Chinese name means that. Swallows also makes me think of freedom, flying freely in the sky. :)

I made earrings with these beautiful swallow charms, but I think they're kinda heavy. :s Will post them a little later.

Here's a swallow charm necklace:

Close-up on the pendant part.

N20 Swallow (white)
Metal swallow charm with crystal quartz chip, white turquoise chip and opalite chip on rhodium-plated chain

New Poll!

I'm kinda kaypoh and curious about how all you lovely readers on my blog came to know of this beading blog. So I set up a poll to know the answers. :D Hope it doesn't take much of your time to participate in the simple poll. It will be there for about a fortnight. :D

Thanks! :)

Oriental II

Somehow these beads had bigger holes, so I had to look for bigger spacer beads. Found them yesterday, couldn't wait to make them and post them up quickly so that they can join the other ceramic beads!

I'm just so into all these beads now. They look so good just being on their own, with intricate floral designs on them.

E77 Violets
12mm glass beads, daisy spacers on kidney ear wires.
Length: 4.5cm
RM16
*Note: They are not mismatched.. just different parts of the pattern on the beads. :)

E78 Red Poppies
12mm glass beads, daisy spacers on kidney ear wires.
Length: 4.5cm
RM16

E-mail me at chanwaiyee@gmail.com or SMS me at 016-2061984 to order! You can choose to change from kidney ear wires to the french ear hooks (the famous question mark ones) or clip-ons (if you have no piercings).
