Flower Palette

Sadly, they're not edible. They look yummy, don't they? I saved the chocolate box from last Christmas; they were a gift from my friends Emmanuel and Joanne. :) The chocolate-filled toffies are delicious! Saved the box because it looks practical for keeping beads. Now it's useful for the flower cabochons!

Since many of you girls are excited about the ring and are asking about other colours, here are the other colours available for you to choose from. Stock is limited, as I currently have only 2 of each colour. I noticed the purple is not captured accurately. It actually looks more like Wikipedia's purple.

Here are the fifteen colours:

mint green :: jade (1 reserved) :: black
columbia blue :: dark blue :: purple
electric pink :: pink :: lavender pink (1 sold)
venetian red (1 reserved) :: salmon (1 sold) :: light tangerine
white (1 sold) :: buttercream :: sandy brown

E-mail me quick to order! :)

Flower Rings, Anyone?

These flower cabochon rings look real sweet sitting on your finger. If I'm not mistaken, this flower is called zinnia. I've seen some pretty live ones in Cameron Highlands few years back.

These flowers are glued on to rings by yours truly with epoxy glue. They sat on my shelf and waited for 24 hours to dry completely so that maximum strength of glue is achieved. You won't have the flowers falling off whilst you're wearing it. :)

Other colours of the zinnia cabochons are available, do mail me to enquire!

R2 Zinnia Ring (white)
R3 Zinnia Ring (light pink)

Diameter of flower: Approx. 2cm
Inner diameter: 1.7cm (adjustable, however, no less than 1.7cm)

Frangipani

A chunky bracelet with pastel green and white Pandora lampwork beads. Something out of the norm - instead of being threaded into the normal thick chain for Pandora beads, I used them in another way. Loved how the white dots form a flower in the bead. Check out the close-up photos of the bead! I imagine this being worn with a nice simple white dress. :)

Hummingbird Bookmark

As mentioned before in my previous post sometime last June, I have always liked to see designs of necklaces/pendants of birdcages, with the bird OUTSIDE the cage. Because personally, it symbolizes freedom, and birds are meant to dominate the skies, not bound in cages.

Few years ago, I wanted to keep birds in a cage as a pet. So I bought a simple birdcage and a pair of tortoise pigeons (which looked like sparrows). My mum strongly refused to let me keep birds in a cage because she said birds are meant to fly free. I looked at them twittering away, trying to find a way out. I felt sorry for them for they couldn't use their wings fully. The next day, mum and I went to a nearby park to set the birds free. :)

Here's a simple bookmark which celebrates freedom for our feathered friends.

BK046 Hummingbird

Listen to Them

When I'm not exasperated or frustrated, I remember what my little students say to me or to their peers. Funny and cute conversations happen every day during school hours.. it's just whether I'm tuned to the right frequency to listen and try not to laugh out loud. Hehe.

Today I picked up quite a few at work. Honestly, I'm amazed that I managed to, because ever since I taught the 5-year-olds, I seemed to have lost that ability. There's just so much to focus on, their work, academics and whatnot. It's so different from the year before last when I was with the 3-year-olds where academic was not of utmost importance yet ('cause they can't write at that age).. that was the year I really enjoyed listening and talking to them.

Today, 6-year-old Ethan came to me with his new books about the solar system and the universe. By the way, that's like, his utmost passion. He can tell you lots of facts about stars, planets and the universe! And so, he found out that the sun will eventually die one day and shared his discovery with me today when I was busy fussing over the other kids.

I took some time to sit down to listen to him as the other kids did their work. He opened his book and started to tell me, "Did you know that one day, the sun will explode? And then at that time it'll touch Earth."

I answered, in a panicked tone, "Oh dear, it'll touch Earth?! Then what will happen to us?!"

Ethan looked at me for a moment before giving me his answer, "Oh, we'll already be in heaven at that time!"

I thought that's a brilliant answer. :)

He then continued to tell me that the sun will not explode yet, not in dunno how many billion years before I stood up and told him that it was time to do some work.

May this joy and my pair of listening ears never depart from me.

By the Sea

I think the heat is making me creating beach-like and sea-themed accessories. I miss the rain! :( Perhaps this bluish earrings can bring some 'coolness' (for the lack of a better word. I tell you, my vocabulary is deteriorating) while the clear teardrops remind you of cool droplets of water.

E141 Bloop
Clam charm, starfish charm, clear teardrop beads, glass bicones and faceted round beads, blister pearls they're the cutest - so freeform!) on fine chain and rhodium-plated earring hooks.
